Finding Your True Nature When the World Spins Fast

Pauli Iida
Acupuncturist, qigong instructor, mother, human.

If you are feeling heavy right now, you are not alone.

We are in the depths of Winter. In the philosophy of Chinese Medicine, this is the season of the Kidneys—the root of our vitality and the storehouse of our deepest essence, or Jing. Nature intends for this to be a time of hibernation, rest, and quiet conservation.

But the world outside isn't letting us rest.

Between the political tensions filling our newsfeeds, the tightening pressure on our wallets, and the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence, the ground feels like it is shifting beneath our feet.

The Anxiety of "Being Replaced" Perhaps the most unsettling feeling lately is the question of identity. As AI reshapes our world overnight, many of us are quietly asking: “Is my job safe? Is my creativity needed? Do I still matter?”

These aren't just economic questions; they are spiritual ones. They strike at the heart of our self-worth. When the world demands we move faster to keep up with machines, we deplete our Winter reserves. We burn through our energy just to stay afloat, leading to deep exhaustion and a feeling of being disconnected from our own spirit.

The One Thing Technology Cannot Copy Here is the truth that technology cannot touch: Your Qi.

No algorithm can replicate the feeling of a conscious breath filling your lungs. No software can mimic the sensation of your feet connecting with the earth. No AI can cultivate the warmth of the "Golden Heart" within you.

In times of financial and identity crisis, your power lies in the one thing that is uniquely yours: your living, breathing presence.

Returning to Your True Nature When we practice Qigong or meditation, we aren't just "relaxing." We are actively reclaiming our territory. We are telling our nervous systems: “I am here. I am safe in this body. I am not a machine.”

For Financial Stress: We practice grounding stances, sinking our energy low to feel supported by the earth when resources feel scarce.

For Political Tension: We practice "clearing" movements, sweeping away external noise to preserve our internal peace.

For Identity Loss: We practice centering, returning to the core of who we are—beyond our job titles or productivity.

A Gentle Invitation You do not need to figure out the next five years today. You only need to survive this winter and protect your spark.

I invite you to join me in a practice designed specifically for this moment. Let’s move out of the spinning mind and down into the wisdom of the body, returning to the innate wholeness that has always been there.
